The Environmental Health and Safety Intern is responsible for implementing, and monitoring safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations. This position supports the internal safety and environmental related programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supports and assists with compliance with all applicable occupational safety and health regulations (OSHA).
- Conducts chemical inventory of entire facility and matches chemical to appropriate storage.
- Assists in implementing and maintaining a new material review with review of SDS for new materials.
- Demonstrates understanding, support and consistent application of our Vision, Mission and Core Values.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited program in chemical engineering, occupational safety, toxicology, environmental sciences, fire safety, or another safety related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA and local, CDPHE, and federal regulations as they relate to environmental health and safety preferred.
- Knowledge of chemical hazard information and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements
- Must have a high level of attention to detail, the ability to multitask and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Knowledge of 6S preferred.
- Ability to understand regulatory standards for new/existing materials, labels, packaging requirements
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Equipment Used
This position is located in a manufacturing facility which requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, squatting, twisting, and bending. This position requires approximately 75% of time spent on the production floor and 25 % in a general office environment. Requires lifting to 50 lbs.
