SUMMARY:
Visual Comfort & Co. is looking for an eager intern to support our growing Engineering department for Summer 2024. Interns typically support their designated department in day-to-day activities, complete assigned projects, and assist in all aspects of the department’s needs. Interns will receive mentoring from their assigned supervisor and must contribute to a community engagement project sponsored by the company. At the end of the internship, interns are required to submit a presentation documenting their acquired knowledge and accomplishments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be enrolled in a 4-year bachelor’s degree program (rising sophomore or higher) or must currently be completing a graduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Understanding of SOLIDWORKS (CAD software), Microsoft Office Suite, Intermediate Excel skills, as well as Proficient educational knowledge in field of study. PDM experience not required but would be a huge plus.
HOURS:
Monday through Friday, full-time with work hours designated by the Supervisor and based upon Internship needs. Internship anticipated to begin 5/28/2024.

- Working educational knowledge of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
- Proficient written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities simultaneously
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Will work with assigned department to create models in CAD software (SOLIDWORKS).
- Builds and refines library of CAD models.
- Assists in day-to-day operations which typically includes data entry, administration, facilitation of work, running projects, assisting in projects.
- Must contribute to assigned company sponsored community engagement activity.
- Partakes in regular internship meetings and completes summer internship overview presentation.
- Answer emails as needed.
- May assist in other departments as needed.
- Demonstrates commitment, dependability, punctuality and adherence to agreed-upon schedule as determined by manager.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
- General work area is indoors, in a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting.

- Parking is provided approximately one block away from building.
